HMS Nelson extends contract with Amey

Amey plc has secured a two-year extension of its £4.5m a year contract with HMS Nelson in Portsmouth. The contract, which started in September 1996 has been extended to run until August 2003. The company has also been awarded the chef services in the Senior Rates Galley from the beginning of September. These services were previously only undertaken by RN uniformed staff.

Les Stratford, Amey FM manger at HMS Nelson, says: "The early decision to extend the contract is a clear indication of Amey’s success in building a good relationship both with the client and our suppliers. It consolidates our position as leaders in terms of reliability and quality performance."
The Royal Navy’s HMS Nelson serves as a Fleet Accommodation Centre and includes premier sports facilities, a court martial suite, an education and learning centre, and a medical centre.

Employing 300 people, Amey provides support services such as cleaning, catering, mail and messenger services, and property and grounds maintenance.
