EDS to outsource full FM in UK for first time

Johnson Controls has been awarded a five year £60m contract to provide non-core business facilities management in the UK for IT services company EDS. This is the first time EDS has outsourced its full FM services in the UK.

Nigel Baker, director of EMEA real estate at EDS said: “We are all aware of the business benefits of outsourcing in terms of streamlining processes, increasing productivity and reducing costs. We are particularly pleased with the aligned commercial model developed with Johnson Controls which will be a key factor in helping achieve our core business objectives.”

Under the contract, Johnson Controls is to supply FM at 67 sites, mostly offices and data centres including warehouses. Services will include maintenance, switchboard, catering and cleaning as well as minor works up to £25,000.

Don Kenny, managing director at Johnson Controls commented on the newly won contract: “To be selected to provide a total FM service for EDS, who themselves specialise in IT outsourcing, is a very exciting opportunity for us. The scope of the contract really demonstrates the tremendous breadth of our offering and I am delighted to see our reputation further strengthened in this dynamic business sector.”

Johnson Controls already provides FM services for EDS in the US, Australia and South Africa.
