Lehman Brothers to move to Canary Wharf

Lehman Brothers is to occupy the 93,000 sq m (1m sq ft) office tower currently under construction at Heron Quays, part of Canary Wharf. The 30 storey tower designed by Cesar Pelli has large trading floors and a wintergarden giving access to a retail mall.

The US-based investment bank, currently located in Broadgate, expects to move to the new building in late 2003. Jeremy Isaacs, CEO, Lehman Brothers, Europe said: ”In the past 12 months, Lehman Brothers has recruited over 1,000 new employees in London. As we continue to develop and expand our franchise, having all our staff located in one world class building will be key to preserving our unique, one firm culture.”

George Iacobescu, Chief Executive, Canary Wharf Group plc, said: “We look forward to welcoming Lehman Brothers to Canary Wharf and to providing them with the best in highly specified, tailored office accommodation. With the commitment to build HQ3 speculatively, this transaction means that all the HQ buildings will be completed before the end of 2003.”
