About Us
St John's Hospital is a
registered charity providing Almshouse accommodation, community grants and
individual financial support to deprived people in Bath.
The historic charitable trust is
as old as Bath itself. Founded in 1174,
it has served the community for over 800 years. Today, its vision is to provide
an improved quality of life, through housing and support for older people, and
through grant making, for others who are disadvantaged in some way.
Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Support Services,
you will lead the formulation of the Facilities strategy, policy, and
procedures ensuring the maintenance of a safe, healthy, effective and efficient
physical infrastructure throughout the operational estate (c. 8 properties).
1. Manage the Facilities department
(cleaning, building and grounds maintenance, office & reception services,
security services) effectively and within agreed budgets
2. Provision of planned preventative and
reactive maintenance programmes including project managing refurbishment
schemes
3. Provide
leadership, line management and direction to facilities staff
4. Develop and maintain a strategic and
operational plan for the continuous development and improvement of their
service provision consistent with the values of the organisation
5. Initiate, manage and review annually
appropriate maintenance service and utility contracts with all external providers
and suppliers
6. Ensure
that all the managers receive appropriate Facilities support and training
7. Develop a
culture and high level of Customer Service.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will
possess significant Facilities Management experience and be qualified in a Hard
FM related discipline (e.g. Building Services, Building Surveying or
Construction). You will be able to demonstrate continued professional
development including a recognised health and safety qualification. Strong contract
and project management ability will be essential in addition to a track record
of managing £1m+ budgets across a comparable diverse estate. You will be an
adept leader with developed stakeholder engagement ability and have a
demonstrable background in operating within a similar collaborative and
collegiate environment.
