HaysAlexandra Palace is set in 73 hectares of parkland and was first opened in 1873 as "The People’s Palace" to provide Victorians with a palace of entertainment and instruction. The palace and surrounding park is run by a charitable trust who are currently searching for an innovative individual to take responsibility for its day to day estates and facilities function whilst supporting a major capital regeneration project, within a leading multi-purpose events venue. Key Responsibilities: Historic Building Repair and Maintenance, Operational Facilities Management, Health & Safety, Contracts Management, Programme Management, Crisis Management, Budgetary Supervision, Energy Management. Role requirements: - To deliver an operational facilities management and security service, ensuring statutory compliance and best practice. - To provide a comprehensive long-term building and site repair programme working in partnership with the Conservation Architect. - To ensure the entire estate complies with statutory Health & Safety requirements. - To supervise budgets and manage sub-contractors delivering Facilities and Security services. - Ensure the site repair/refurbishment programme is effective, up to date and pro-active in supporting the estates core activities. - Supervise the resolution of reactive facilities challenges through close liaison with business managers. - Support and lead on-site small works projects teams ensuring: *that effective mechanisms are in place for contract monitoring and review; ensuring that service levels are being met and good customer relations are being maintained; *supporting the operation of a Crisis Management team in the event of an incident and to effect recovery procedures; *producing work specifications and issuing to contractors for quotation and tender, with assistance from architects/ quantity surveyors as appropriate. *raising financial documentation for approval, procurement of materials and co-ordinating the work through to completion; *co-ordinating the responses to help desk calls and breakdown by the provision of reactive services from the EFM support teams; *resolving problems, claims or disputes, recommending and initiating remedial action as necessary. - Provide energy management advice and project planning to stake holders. - Ensure environmental policy is considered and implemented during all estates and facilities decision processes. - Support the regeneration team in managing regular capital works programmes and help design long term programmes of investment, initially focused on refurbishment of areas such as the Great Hall and the Theatre functions. - To promote the Trust's Equal Opportunities and Customer Care policies.
