PASSIONATE ABOUT SERVICE, PEOPLE AND REPUTATION

Company: Principle Cleaning

Principle Cleaning Services Ltd provides a high quality, sustainable and professional cleaning service to both large and medium organisations.

Set up as a Private Limited company in 1989, throughout the last 21 years there have been a number of changes within the cleaning industry, with very few privately owned companies still in existence. Principle Cleaning Services aim has always remained the same – to offer an exceptional and personal contract cleaning and associated service with a core expertise and the provision of daily cleaning throughout London and the Home Counties.

Passionate about service, people and reputation, a highly experienced management team is in place.  Their commitment is second to none and support from over 1700 directly employed, motivated and long serving cleaning staff, means service levels are consistently of an exceptionally high standard.

The secret to Principle Cleaning Services’ success is customer loyalty, together with a large number of long term clients in the financial, professional and educational sectors who have contributed to the company’s growth. Career progression is crucial and staff retention is extremely high.  Many companies claim to provide an environmentally sensitive service but running a fleet of hybrid company cars and the use of ecological cleaning products which are kinder to the environment, prove that Principle Cleaning Services genuinely is a traditional and sustainable cleaning company with an innovative touch.

Also committed to Corporate Social Responsibility and keen to put something back into the North London area where the office is based, the company has pledged long-term support to The London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy charity.

Awards
The Kimberly-Clark Professional and CSSA Golden Service Awards
Recognised for our high quality standards, Principle Cleaning Services has won numerous Golden Service Awards. Now held bi-annually, these awards are recognised as the highest accolade in the cleaning industry, with a wide range of contractors both large and small taking part.

At the end of last year, we received another Golden Service Award for our work for Carillion and the Sports Complex at the University of Hertfordshire, only just four months after being awarded a £1.7 million contract for the vast majority of the University Estate at the De Havilland and College Lane Campus.

As outright winners in the category of Best Cleaned Premises - Educational Establishment, The prestigious Awards, which provide a benchmark for quality and a means of identifying an organisation as a leader in the field, were once again the social highlight of the cleaning industry.

We have held the contract for a number of years to clean the residential building and the Prestigious Sports Village at the De Havilland Campus, current home to the Saracens rugby training camp and after a rigorous tender process is now responsible for the remainder. We have applied innovations to the contract such as the purchase of a mega electric van specifically for the contract, biometric time, attendance systems and computerised quality monitoring to enhance performance.

The Best in Europe
Two of our young and highly trained staff were awarded with an inspiring three gold medals as part of a UK team at Euroskills 2008.
They walked away with Gold, not only as part of the ‘Cleaning Services Team’ but also picked up both the ‘Cleaning Manager’ and ‘Cleaning Operator Team’ titles, endorsing our excellent reputation for quality and professionalism and proof that training really is worthwhile.

2008 was the very first edition of the European competition held in Ahoy, Rotterdam, where over 400 best skilled youths from 30 European countries took part in less than 49 trades with the UK scooping a huge majority of prizes.

What makes Principle Cleaning Services different?

Management Expertise
With a motivated and highly experienced management team dealing with every aspect of keeping a building spotless and knowing what is required to give our customers the best end result is a priority.  Many have been promoted from within the company and in turn have the greatest understanding of what is expected of them in maintaining our valuable reputation.

Training
Improvement and staff training is paramount and staff have gained Cleaning and Support Services Levels 1 & 2 and NVQ cleaning certificates incorporating 10 BICSc tasks leading to a COPC BICSc . In its quest to combat infection, Principle Cleaning Services employees also attend Infection Control courses where the focus is cross contamination and reducing the impact of Swine Flu.

Sustainability
Committed to protecting our environment and by reducing our CO2 emissions, we are ISO 14001 certified.  We avoid sending waste to landfill and actively promote recycling to our customers by setting up successful schemes in their own premises. Biodegradable Biosacs have been introduced, together with Ecover sustainable cleaning products being used in all sites.

Vetting/Security
All staff are fully vetted for their suitability to work in the UK in accordance with the Prevention of Illegal Working - Asylum & Immigration Act 1996.  New employees must
provide a National Insurance Number and are issued with Company identification badges, including a photograph, with company uniforms to be worn at all times on site.

Health and Safety
We take a very responsible attitude towards Health and Safety and our company policy is to provide safe and healthy working conditions and encourage safe working methods.  We enlist the support of all employees, customers and suppliers to ensure this is achieved.  We have dedicated NEBOSH trained personnel and an excellent Health and Safety record.

Principle people
We value our employees and believe they are the heart of the company, contributing to its on-going success.  All staff are directly employed and given opportunities for their own career development.  We actively encourage our employees to undergo training with funding provided and time off allocated to study and through this many of them have been promoted from within the company.

Monitoring
Certified to ISO9001, our own ‘Performance Measurement System’ is at the heart of our service management and delivery system.  It enables performance targets to be measured and reviewed and ensures Service Level Agreements (SLA) are being met.  Pre-agreed Key Performance Indicators determine continual improvement and measure our success in determining a top quality end result.

Innovation/Trends & Techniques
Using the latest, specialised cleaning methods and technically superior machinery to ensure a brilliant finish is essential.

Without a doubt there is an increased demand for the greater use of technology like e-tendering, management information, attendance monitoring, (some are now bio metric) and quality control.

Many larger clients now employ energy or sustainability managers and therefore expect detailed reporting from suppliers in their use of energy and the traceability of waste and recycled products.  Many contract cleaning companies are working in partnership with waste/recycling companies.  We have found that environmentally friendly products such as Ecover are now being specifically designed for the industrial cleaning sector and are vastly improved in their cleaning ability and true environmental credentials.

Case Study – University of Hertfordshire
For a number of years, Principle Cleaning Services has held a contract to clean the residential building and the Prestigious Sports Village at the De Havilland Campus.

Following a rigorous tender process last year, based Principle Cleaning Services is now responsible for the cleaning of the vast majority of the University Estate at the De Havilland and College Lane Campus. For many years the University has been cleaned by in-house staff and it was decided to outsource these services to improve the service levels on site. Principle Cleaning Services was chosen above the other bidders based on its positive approach to staff training and welfare and its proven ability to deliver high quality services.

Principle Cleaning Services has applied innovations to the contract such as biometric time, attendance systems and computerised quality monitoring to enhance staff attendance and performance.  It also purchased a mega electric van which is not only environmentally friendly but is corrosion resistant with low running costs with zero emissions. It has also introduced the range of Ecover, the world’s largest producer of ecological detergents and eco-friendly cleaning and laundry products.

As evidence of its ability at the end of last year, Principle Cleaning Services received a Golden Service Award for its work for Carillion and the Sports Complex at the University of Hertfordshire as outright winners in the category of Best Cleaned Premises - Educational Establishment.

“After a rigorous six month tender programme we were very pleased to award our cleaning contract to Principle Cleaning Services Ltd.  Throughout the process they took the time to understand our specific issues and presented us with solutions as to how they would be managed.  Most importantly, they demonstrated how standards would improve but never once let their focus slip from the challenging job of effectively organising a TUPE process that involved upwards of 135 staff.  I have been very impressed with the Principle Services approach which at all times has been proficient and professional.”

Tracey Russell, Deputy Director Facilities, University of Hertfordshire.
