Location, location, location - but don't overlook the other considerations

Bradford & Bingley Relocation Services has uncovered the best and worst business locations in the UK - and what figures in the judgement, according to over 1000 senior executives.

By far the most important factor cited in choice of location is the workforce, followed by proximity to customers, transportation and costs.

On these factors, the top five locations overall are West London, North London, East London, West Midlands and St Albans.

Looked at in reverse, the biggest problems faced by employers in their current locations are lack of transport infrastructure and traffic congestion, high costs, and labour or skill shortages.

This relegates a number of locations to the bottom of the list, including Aberdeen, Portsmouth, Fareham, Exeter and Edinburgh.
