Training central to businesses

Training, training, training’ is to be the main theme of the first policy manifesto published by the Business Services Association. The document will highlight key issues for the business services sector as the next election approaches, including employment, staff and partnership issues, procurement and competitiveness, and at the forefront the importance of effective vocational training.

BSA’s director-general Norman Rose, says academic qualifications are not the route for everyone, but that we all need appropriate training if we are to do our jobs effectively, at whatever level. The relevance of education to both the delivery of high-quality services and the individual fulfilment of the staff involved is undeniable, he adds.

Rose concludes with: "The success or failure of Government policies, of whatever political persuasion, will depend ultimately on the skills and abilities of those whose task it is to put them into action."

The BSA is a policy group of major organisations providing outsourced services to companies, public bodies, local authorities and government departments and agencies. The annual turnover in the UK exceeds £12m and the member companies employ over 500,000 people directly and in-directly.
