US firm launches e-commerce joint venture in UK

Bidcom, a US engineering, building and property e-business service provider, has linked up with four UK professional services and construction companies: KPMG Consulting, Wates Group, Carillion and EC Harris, to launch Bidcom’s on-line collaboration service ProjectFirst. The aim of the service is to save customers time and money as well as improving communication and accountability across a project portfolio.

EC Harris chairman Richard Clare said the Bidcom product will enable the company to further sharpen its effectiveness in reducing investment risk and delivering better value projects and facilities for its clients.

Chairman and chief executive of Carillion, Sir Neville Simms, stated the company is pleased to work with Bidcom, not only on ProjectFirst, but also in developing the definitive full life-cycle e-commerce application the construction industry needs.

Rod Bennion, managing director of the Wates Group, believes Bidcom’s focus on best practice and managing core business processes across the project lifecycle will help reduce exposure to financial risk, reduce costs and allow projects to be completed on time.

Bidcom’s chief executive officer, Tom Denegis, said the company has partnered with some of the most respected companies in the consulting, construction and development industries to implement and help promote the Bidcom platform across the UK.

Bidcom helps companies manage risk, improve profitability and complete building projects on time. It delivers end-to-end web-based business processes including hosting business critical applications over the web, allowing companies to collaborate on projects without having to own, manage and support the applications and supporting infrastructure.
