ISS continues on acquisition trail

ISS has acquired seven companies in Singapore, Denmark, Norway and Switzerland with a total turnover of £10m (DKK 130m).

The company acquired the contracts and assets of Berkeley Cleaning Pte Ltd and its subsidiary Essential Services Pte Ltd in Singapore. Berkeley has a turnover of approximately £3.4m (DKK 43m) and 700 employees. Essential, which is wholly owned by Berkeley, has a turnover of approximately £156,000 (DKK 2m) and 7 employees. Berkeley is 100% owned by SITA Holdings Pte Ltd, a Singaporean subsidiary of the French company SITA-Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux Group.

In Denmark, ISS purchased the activities of the specialist company Nordisk Fugtteknik A/S (NFT) which has a turnover of £1.7m (DKK 22m) and 20 employees. NFT specialises in dehumidification, hygrometry and humidity counselling.

ISS believes the acquisition of NFT, which has obtained an ISO9002 certification and a good reputation for quality and professionalism, will improve the strategic platform of ISS Industry & After-Damage Service Nordic whom NFT will form part of.

All activities of the Norwegian company Mesterservice AS were also acquired by ISS and from 1st January 2001, Sporty Skadeservice AS, which is a subsidiary of ISS Norway, will take over the company's operations. Employing 14 people, Mesterservice AS provides after-damage services. It is expected to generate a turnover of about £975,000 (DKK 12.5m) in 2001. The company’s management will continue in their jobs and the operations will become part of ISS Industry & After-Damage Service Nordic.

Moreover, ISS has acquired the activities of NIR Hygieneservice AS, Norway, which provides specialised cleaning services to the food industry. With a turnover of approximately £522,000 (DKK 6.7m), the company employs 35 people.

51% of the shares of the Norwegian FM company Eiendomsforvaltningen AS have also been bought. The company has a turnover of about £312,000 (DKK 4m) and 6 employees.

The operations of the rest home Skotselv Hjem for Eldre, Norway, with its 17 employees and a turnover of £374,000 (DKK 4.8m) has been acquired by ISS Norway.

In Switzerland, Giorgio Bernasconi S.A. was acquired. The company specialises in cleaning and employs 36 employees. It has a turnover of £2.9m (DKK 37m).
