Deutsche Telekom and Walter Holding are planning a joint venture to design and operate an online market for the construction industry.

Klaus Maerz, head of Deutsche Telekom's business markets said: "We will create the basis for an electronic commerce market with a volume of roughly DM500 million."

The online market will serve architects, engineers, suppliers and regulatory authorities as well as construction companies. The market will facilitate purchasing, contracting out and project management.
