Jarvis wins second Irish PPP project

Jarvis has won its second education PPP project for the Irish Department of Education and Science worth £125m. Under the 25 year flagship contract, Jarvis will develop a new third-level music college for the Cork School of Music.

The new college will initially accommodate 400 full-time and 2,000 part-time students, covering an area of over 13,400 sq m (144,000 sq ft). The total development cost will exceed IR£54m (£43m). The accommodation areas will consist of specialist tuition areas, a rehearsal hall, drama suite, recording studio and lecture rooms with a concourse area in the centre.

Jarvis will provide a range of facilities management services including building maintenance, cleaning, security, IT and communications support to the college over the life of the contract. The company will also equip the school with musical instruments, including over 75 Steinway pianos.

Henry Lafferty, chief executive of Jarvis Accommodation Services said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded this second project by the Irish Department of Education and Science and to be working with them to develop a flagship project that will raise the profile of the Cork School of Music on an international basis. It further reinforces Jarvis’ position as market leader in the educational PPP sector.”
