BRE completes health and safety review

BRE has completed a major review examining the health and safety risks associated with various hazards in buildings. The results of this work are available in a new BRE report on the influence of buildings and the indoor environment on the health and safety of building users.

The project, funded by the DETR and contributions from more than 40 experts, is intended to provide a basis for the future development of standards, regulations and guidance.

The new report, which covers both homes and offices, provides: a summary of the evidence for the impact of buildings on human health; assessment of the relative importance of the various hazards in buildings and details possible methods of reducing risks.

Building Regulation, Health and Safety (BR417) price £45, is available from the BRE's on-line bookshop www.bre.co.uk. Alternatively, contact CRC Customer Services, tel: 020 7505 6622 or fax: 020 7505 6606.
