London hospital PFI for Bouygues

Bouygues UK, the British division of Bouygues Construction, part of the giant French construction group Bouygues SA, has won a contract worth around £51m (e80m) to build a new hospital in London under the private finance initiative.

The work involves demolishing old buildings, renovating others still in use, and building a new 20,000 sq m block. The facilities management services will be provided by Ecovert, a subsidiary of Saur UK (Bouygues Group), for 35 years.

This is Bouygues’ third PFI contract in Britain after Barnet Hospital and King’s College. Under the contract, Bouygues UK will finance, design and build the West Middlesex hospital based in South-West London. Work on the new hospital will begin in the middle of this year and is expected to take 42 months to complete.
