Free software for water savings
AquaSpec Sponsors and Developers with Minister for Construction Nick Raynsford at the launch

AquaSpec is a new software program that helps specifiers to choose the most appropriate water saving product - that is, the product that will save most water at the least cost.

Finding out about all the different products available on the market, how much they can save you, comparing each of them to your normal building specification and then identifying suppliers may take days. With AquaSpec you can do this in around ten minutes. ECD Energy and Environment, developers of this new software, have been involved in many design projects and have found customers lack knowledge concerning which water conservation products would be appropriate for customers.

AquaSpec is different from other products on the market, since it's suitable for both domestic and commercial buildings, whether new or existing. It’s a one-stop shop, including a catalogue of products so that you can go straight to specification. It also covers more complicated systems like rainwater recycling, after special research carried out by Peter Warm Associates.

Speaking at the AquaSpec launch at the House of Lords, Minister Nick Raynsford said: "AquaSpec helps engineers and designers to save water, by bringing together the relevant water saving information in one place."

AquaSpec is available free and is downloadable from ECD's website, www.ecde.demon.co.uk/aquaspec
