European hi-tech FM skills shortage?

Increased use of the internet to move and share multimedia information is driving the rapid growth in demand for broadband communications across Europe. A number of major players are currently building internet data centres in key European locations, providing co-location hosting with highly specified connectivity and security of operations.

In these centres facilities management will be key. Clients must have confidence in the resilience and security of operations crucial to their businesses. However, internet data centre operators are reporting difficulties in recruiting the right calibre of professional to run these facilities.

Several UK FM businesses are gearing up to support this market but may be hampered by the skills shortage. To assess the skillbase available to technology companies and FM providers i-FM is running a short survey.
