Organic food in the workplace

Charlton House Catering Services claims to be the first contract caterer in the UK to introduce a range of organic food to the workplace. Staff at many of Britain’s leading companies can now choose from a selection of organic light bites, main course dishes and fresh fruit in staff restaurants managed by Charlton House, the first contract caterer to seek Soil Association accreditation as a producer of organic meals.

Commenting on the launch of the organic range, Robyn Jones, managing director of Charlton House, said: "At Charlton House we like to keep an eye on food trends and anticipate customers’ requirements, wherever possible. Organic produce is now the biggest growth area of the UK food market so we felt the time was ripe to introduce it to the workplace.

"We have built our business on providing top quality, fresh food and we see the organic range as a natural progression. Our range has already been trialled at some of our clients’ sites where sales have surpassed all expectations so there is obviously a demand for it. At the end of the day, it’s all about giving the customer more choice."

Charlton House uses a carefully chosen group of Soil Association Certified producers to ensure that the company has access to the freshest and finest quality organic produce.

Charlton House Catering Services was established by Robyn Jones in 1991. The company's clients include Railtrack, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Sony UK. Charlton House projects an annual turnover of £18 million for 2001.
