Contract wins for Trident and the Corps

Trident has won a portering and security services contract at the 830-bed Southend Hospital in Essex.

Trident contract manager Papi Mengual commented on the contract: “It has grown our business. We are very proud of what we have achieved so far at the hospital: we have helped to reduce crime and have a very good relationship with the hospital staff, which we feel is the key to our success.”

“We have nine full-time security guards and 24 porters on site”, he continued. “Besides supporting the medical and nursing staff by taking patients to clinics and appointments, our porters also run the hospital postal service and are required to move wards, goods, waste and specimens. They are also part of the fire team, which means they have to assist patients in the case of fire.”

Support services manager at Southend Hospital John Facer said: “Trident was shortlisted because the company showed value for money as well as strong bias towards security and portering.”

l The Corps has won a security contract for the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) in Scotland, following a competitive bid.

A security team is to direct visitors and contractors, manage vehicle traffic, escort cash within the EICC and guard the premises, which has room for 1,500 delegates and exhibition space. The Corps will also provide the centre with a consultancy and advisory service that can advise on topics such as legalisation or equipment.

Geoff Fenlon, HR and TQM facilitator of the EICC, commented: “Over the last five years we have identified an increasing range of security issues for a site like this. Our appointment of the Corps reflects the need for both sophisticated systems and flexible manpower as well as their specialist knowledge when we have famous or high risk as our visitors.”
