BT has put a special multi-media "millennium" edition of its Technology Journal on the web. Though some of the content verges on the self-promotional, the overall effect is stimulating. It's well worth a visit.

Separate sections cover telecoms history, as well current systems and applications. There is also a review of the technological and business drivers that figure in the continued pressure for evolution.

Perhaps most interesting is BT's look into the future, incorporating an interactive timeline that projects likely developments over the next 20 years.
