The total development cost for the development, which will come into operation in two phases, will be some £23m and the whole life value £72m, including approximately £17m of facilities management and life cycle maintenance costs.

Professor Ron Cooke, vice chancellor of the University of York said: "The partnership with Jarvis will ensure that the University will continue to provide its students with the very best facilities."

Henry Lafferty, chief executive of Jarvis Accommodation Services, said: "We are very pleased to reach financial close with the University of York. This latest announcement confirms Jarvis’ position as a key player in the higher education accommodation market. As with all our accommodation projects, Jarvis will create first class facilities whilst looking at other ways we can work with York to offer the best environment for all their students."
