Weston moves to Digiplex

John Weston, formerly a director at Sulzer responsible for key account management and marketing across the Group’s facility management activities, has joined Digiplex, a provider of colocation facilities.

As Vice President of Operations at Digiplex, Weston will be responsible for ongoing operations management in both new and existing facilities.

He steered the original MBO of the facilities management team from Xerox in 1993 and the subsequent sale of CBX to Sulzer in 1998.

DigiPlex has also announced the appointment of Byrne Murphy as President, and Keith Chamberlain as Chief Engineer. Byrne Murphy moves to DigiPlex from BAA McArthurGlen, Europe’s largest owner and operator of factory outlet retail complexes.

Keith Chamberlain brings to DigiPlex almost a decade of experience from the telecommunications sector. Keith was Head of Infrastructure Deployment at Orange, responsible for the design, roll out and integration of Orange’s UK network for base stations, switch sites and data centres. Keith is responsible at DigiPlex for ensuring the internal design and infrastructure of the facilities meet the different requirements of the customers.

Following the recruitment of the management team, Geir Ramleth, Chairman and Chief Executive of DigiPlex will step down from his current position and re-locate to America where he will sit on the Board of Directors and play an active role in the strategic direction of the company.

Commenting on the management appointments Geir Ramleth said: “These appointments complete the management expertise needed to take DigiPlex forward into the next stage of the European operations. The US market continues to expand into Europe at a fast rate and my role as a Board Director based in the US will enable me to further advise DigiPlex in the best direction to accommodate the converging markets.”

DigiPlex ‘MegaPlexes’ provide connectivity to fibre-optic networks and house critical voice and data networking equipment for customers. The company can also provide customers with turnkey managed services including technical assistance, environmental conditioning and back-up power. With the acquisition of its Frankfurt, Oslo, Geneva, Milan, Munich and Stockholm, Amsterdam, London and Berlin facilities, DigiPlex offers a pan-European capability.
