Hospital and school PFI deals

A Bouygues consortium has signed a £50m PFI deal with West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust under which Ecovert Group will provide total facilities management services for an initial period of 33 years once construction is complete.

The services costs are expected to be in excess of £6m per annum once all buildings are fully operational in 2006. Ecovert will provide services such as M&E, waste management, life cycle management, catering, cleaning, portering and security.

It will also provide estates maintenance services under a separate contract with the Trust throughout the construction period from April 2001.

The Bouygues consortium will design, finance and construct the 20,000 sq m (215,000 sq ft) acute hospital, refurbish several buildings and provide non-clinical services.

Bruno Bodin, deputy managing director of Ecovert Group commented: "We are delighted to have signed the contract for this scheme. This contract will strengthen our activities in the healthcare sector where we are already part of another consortium constructing a new hospital in Barnet, Hertfordshire and currently providing facilities management services."
