BRE to launch sustainability website

The Building Research Establishment is being funded by the Department for the Environment, Transport and the Regions set up a web-based repository for projects that demonstrate sustainable design.

Both clients and designers can lodge details of completed or planned projects. This ‘reference file’ of projects will be made available to both groups to help them become more aware of the innovative techniques or products used by others.

The downloadable reference file will give details of the basic project concept, including design team contacts, and outline any sustainable features including: thermal performance, solar design, use of recycled materials, interaction with transport, use of sustainable materials, water conservation and use of alternate energy sources.

Initially data entry forms will be distributed to leading architectural and engineering practices but as the project progresses it will be possible to enter projects directly onto the website.
