New service for monitoring regulatory changes launched

The Government's band of "e-envoys" must be wondering how hard they have to work in order to get things right.

According to a report just published by the National Audit Office, the lead we had in this country in public sector web applications is slipping away. The NAO criticises Government websites for being, in places, out of date, slow and limited in functionality.

In addition, says the report, "a serious change problem still has to be tackled inside the civil service."

All that notwithstanding, a new site - entitled Direct Action Government - has been launched to try to help companies keep up with changing regulations.

Incorporating both department heading listings and a search facility, the site provides relevant new information and any necessary forms. Companies can also register within specific areas of interest and receive email notification of any changes.

Direct Access Government is at www.dag-business.gov.uk
