Cable & Wireless outsources property management to GVA Grimley

GVA Grimley has won a five year contract with Cable & Wireless Global, part of telecommunications group Cable & Wireless plc, to manage C&W’s entire property portfolio in the UK and Ireland, some 800 properties totalling almost 150,000 sq m.

The international property adviser will provide a total estate management service, including responsibility for the Cable & Wireless property-related treasury function as well as strategic advice on the future direction of its portfolio. Members of the Cable & Wireless property team will transfer to GVA Grimley under TUPE.

Michael Corbett, chief executive of GVA Grimley, said: “This is an excellent example of a large company taking full advantage of skilled property professionals in a partnering arrangement with an external service provider. From our longstanding relationship with Cable & Wireless, we fully understand the link between their day-to-day property needs and longer term strategic direction. In secuting the contract, GVA Grimley believes it was able to offer a winning combination of a strong track record working with Cable & Wireless and a dedicated telecoms team with direct experience of the industry.”

“This new contract will build upon the successful relationship that has been established between the two companies. In managing Cable & Wireless’ extensive UK portfolio, GVA Grimley will deliver commercial best practice, driving down the company’s property costs and providing strategic advice to ensure the future physical needs of the business are constantly reviewed and aligned to the corporate strategy,” adds Roger Hitchcock, vice president of facilities and property, Cable & Wireless.
