NewSchools, a WS Atkins joint venture with Innisfree (including Wates Construction as equity partner) has been appointed by Kent County Council as preferred bidder for the Swanscombe Schools PFI project.

The project is for the design, construction, finance, facilities management and operational services of a second phase of the existing Swan Valley Community School and a new Primary School at Craylands Lane.

The company said the council and NewSchools will work towards signing the contract, which is worth £30m over 25 years, in spring 2001.
