NACORE and SPROG discuss property management outsourcing

"Most clients are reluctant to let external property people close enough to their business to make nay lasting difference – it's up to us to demonstrate that property is seldom neutral – it either adds or destroys value." These were the words of Peter Copley, speaking at the recent joint meeting of Nacore UK and the Society of Property Researchers' Occupiers Group (SPROG).

Copley successfully turned Anglian Water's real estate management team into a service provider, Ambury, not just to the parent company but to clients such as EMAP and Eastern Counties Newspapers.

Discussion led by NACORE board member Rob Harris of ISGC covered the need to deal with the problem of politics, who is the customer and the need to balance strategy with implementation: "As more in-house teams are outsourced these are all topics we as a profession are going to have to consider more often in order to provide the added value that our clients require."
