Turner & Townsend appoints FM consultant for Asian market

The international construction consultant Turner & Townsend has appointed Malaysian Kuan Mun Lee as a senior facilities consultant. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the 35-year-old will provide facility management consultancy services to clients throughout the country, which Turner & Townsend claims to be a growing market because of the fast track economy and the subsequent development of world-class buildings.

Mun Lee has gained a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, USA, and an MBA at the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She has previously worked as an electrical engineer at John Brown Engineering & Construction, Tulsa and as a facilities manager at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas.

In 1998, Mun Lee returned to Malaysia, where she has been involved in supervising the facility and biomedical engineering maintenance services for 127 state hospitals. Mun Lee says that facilities management is a relatively new discipline in Malaysia and South East Asia generally, but that there has been a rapid development of major buildings in the region recently and expectations from building owners and occupiers have risen.

Mun Lee believes Turner & Townsend is now well placed to capitalise on the range of services it offers, which includes quantity surveying, cost management and project management, contract services, management systems, PFI and value and risk management.
