ABB buys US software and service provider

ABB has extended its software and eBusiness arm by acquiring US company Energy Interactive Inc. The technology company, together with the US based provider of information software and services, will form the new business ABB Energy Interactive.

Goran Lindahl, President and CEO of ABB, said that the company was bringing on a dynamic team of people to deliver software and service solutions and expand its customer base.

Energy Interactive was formed in April 1997 as a spin-off from Quantum Consulting, a company carrying out research and service projects for leading utilities. Energy Interactive delivers products and services for the utilities, power markets, energy service providers and energy consumers.

ABB provides software and eBusiness for customers in power transmission and distribution. By acquiring Energy Interactive, says the company, it is building further links with the new economy.

The ABB President and CEO said: "As deregulation grows in other parts of the world, we’ll have the solutions and experience needed to meet the new demands".
