Building and Property Group has been selected as preferred bidder for a £1 billion PFI project on behalf of the Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust in the West Midlands.

The facilities management contract will run for a period of 40 years. It will entail the re-development and partial reconstruction of the Trust’s acute hospital services at the Russells Hall site to provide 760 beds, approximately double the current number. In addition, it will include the construction of two new day care centres at the existing Guest and Corbett Hospitals.

Building & Property will be responsible for providing a broad range of non-clinical support services; both during the interim period and once the construction phase is complete. Services likely to be provided include estates management, portering, cleaning, catering, sterile services, laundry, security, medical engineering and waste management.

Under the contract, which is expected to reach its financial close by September, around 1,000 staff will transfer to Building & Property Group.
