One new contract and two new awards

Maxwell Stewart plc has been awarded a 4-month contract, worth £1m, to carry out modifications to existing building services at a new leisure facility to be constructed within the Trocadero in Piccadilly Circus.

Maxwell Stewart completed the original mechanical services installation work at the indoor theme park, the largest in Europe, prior to its opening in 1997. The company will now modify the existing mechanical and electrical services.

Carillion wins awards

Carillion has won two categories in the Quality in Construction Awards 2000. The Engineering and Construction arm won the award for Training Achievement and Carillion Special Projects won the Environmental Achievement category.

Carillion’s winning point in the Training Achievement category was their formal training programme for everybody in the company, which means treating all employees the same, regardless of seniority.

In the Environmental Achievement category, Carillion won the award on "the strength of its continuing determination to improve its own environmental performance and to propagate the same culture among its suppliers and subcontractors."

The award is run by Construction News in conjunction with the Construction Industry Board and the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions.
