Interserve wins £40m PFI in Cornwall

An Interserve led consortium has signed a PFI contract for 31 fire stations in Cornwall, worth £40m. The company said the contract is the first to include all of the stations within the Brigade.

The project will include the replacement of ten fire stations, the rebuilding of two and the refurbishment of a further nineteen as well as the ongoing management for 27 years.

In addition to a 50% equity stake, Interserve will carry out the construction, refurbishment and maintenance work for the full period, the value of which amounts to £21m.

Mike Bottjer, chairman, commented: “We are delighted to have secured this important scheme for Cornwall County Council, which is a welcome addition to our growing portfolio of PFI projects.”
