What's happening in FM today?

For those worried about the millennium, DMR Consulting Group has created a command and control centre to help businesses and organisations quickly establish a headquarters to manage the execution of all Y2K rollover activities. Martin Caddick, European director of Year 2000 at DMR, said "Through our Y2K command and control centre services, businesses and organisations will have appropriate, trained resources available when a Y2K-related crises occurs".

Office design group Claremont has launched a new award scheme for 'FM Graduate of the Year'. Developed to emphasise the role education has in FM, the award will be based on a 1,500 - 2,000 word essay on 'FM into the Millennium'. The winner will be announced at the annual BIFM conference, to be held in September at Warwick University.

AMEC has won contracts worth £23.2 million in East Anglia.

The work consists of:

University of Essex - Design and construction of student residences in Colchester

Homerton College - Repair and refurbish the existing student accommodation

University of Cambridge - Refurbish and extend the Chemistry department Rapid Electronics -

Design and construction of new offices and a distribution centre in Colchester.

Grennalls Hotel - Design/refurbish an existing hotel shell and a new 60-bedroom extension.
