Tony Angel, Managing Director - Edifice Ltd

One of the most highly regarded practitioners in his field, Tony has an extensive breadth of knowledge gained from both operational and strategic roles over some 25 years in the industry.

His career started in property asset management, where he spent some 15 years advising clients on how best to optimise their portfolios in terms of both (investment) yield and (occupier) optimisation. Thereafter, he worked predominantly in facilities contracting and from 1988 to 2000 was a key player at Workplace Management, culminating in the position of regional operations director. He then gained client-side experience managing sweeping changes to services procurement and delivery within United Business Media plc, with responsibility for a group-wide project that included scoping, tendering and implementing a series of national service contracts throughout seven subsidiaries.

A return to the supply side with Taylor Woodrow provided an opportunity to help Tony identify and implement leading-edge practices within that business, but – always a consultant at heart – he is now responsible for the re-emergence of Edifice as a leading UK consultancy once again.

Tony has a postgraduate diploma in facilities management (he was prize-winner at the College of Estate Management in his year of graduation) and was also one of the first FM practitioners in the UK to hold the globally-recognised CFM qualification. He is a former external tutor at the College of Estate Management and a past director both of the British Institute of Facilities Management and of IFMA UK.

A WORD OF ADVICE:

Be true to what you believe in but don’t be dogmatic. We can all continue to learn, every day, simply by being receptive to new ideas.

A LITTLE KNOWN FACT:

As well as having spent time as a professional photographer, Tony is also a qualified tailor!
