Lionel is credited as being a pioneer of facilities management in the early 1980s, and has been dubbed ‘The Father of FM’. He maintains a keen interest in the development of the FM discipline globally through his international consultancy, Agents4RM.
In 1984 Lionel founded what is regarded as the first specialist facilities management company in the UK, Facilities & Property Management plc, attracting a number of blue chip companies as clients. The business was acquired by Chesterton International plc in 1994. Since then, he has held a number of senior management positions on both the supply side and the client side of the industry as an independent consultant, including a 3-year secondment to Siemens plc as Managing Director of Siemens FM in 2000.
Lionel is a past Chairman of BIFM, was Chair of EuroFM from 2000 to 2005 and joined the board of IFMA between 2006 and 2008. He is an Honorary Fellow of BIFM and a Fellow of both the Institute of Directors and LEAD International.
In 2009 Lionel joined forces with Dave Wilson to launch Agents4RM and has been working on international assignments, as well as advising one of the UK’s largest property investment companies.
