John de Lucy, Head of Estates and Facilities - British Library

John started his real estate career with the HSBC Premises Department and from there he moved to Chase Manhattan Bank, CIBC and Ernst and Young, where he became director of administration. After a short spell at Canary Wharf Management, he then became group property manager at PPP Healthcare where he experimented with changing the traditional concepts of work and the workplace.

John joined CB Hillier Parker in 1998, taking the role of business manager for the corporate facilities management business in EMEA. He coordinated the delivery of services in real estate and facilities management to clients across Europe and worked with the PFI team. 

From March 2001 to August 2002 John was Facilities Director at Pearson plc.

Most recently, John was appointed as Head of Estates and Facilities at the British Library, where he has installed WiFi in all public spaces and reading rooms. This is believed to be the largest WiFi site in Europe.

An engineering graduate, John is a fellow of BIFM and a member of CoreNet.
