
David started his career as an apprentice electrician before becoming a planner estimator. He then joined Maintenance and Technical Management (Scotland) as technical support engineer and was later promoted to contracts surveyor and commercial manager.
He became associate director for the new facilities management division in 1992, mobilising large FM contracts and securing long-term deals. From January in 1997 to November the same year, he acted as general manager of UK facilities and building services company Carter Planned Maintenance, where he was responsible for operational activities with turnover of £10m.
David was then appointed by the HowGroup as Private Finance Initiative manager to deliver an educational project in Westminster, with sole responsibility for the delivery of all FM services.
In 1998, David joined OCS company Select Facilities Services as director with overall regional responsibility. He was also a board member of the company, overseeing employee relations.
At the end of 2001 he left Select to start up Key FM together with Stan Mitchell, the founder of the Facilities Support Services Group. As operations director for UK FM business, David is responsible for business performance and credibility in specific organisational sector.

David says that he has no hidden talents, but adds that anybody who knows him for any length of time will know that he is passionate about his wife and family, work and golf (in that order)!
