Barry Varcoe, Director, Group Property - Royal Bank of Scotland Group

Barry’s role as Director of Group Property at Royal Bank of Scotland involves a responsibility for maximising the business return from approximately £2.5bn asset value of operational property infrastructure for the Group in over 50 countries around the world. This includes all aspects of property acquisitions/disposals, workplace/design, facilities and utility operations, projects (construction), and portfolio strategy.

A Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, he is also a Board member of CoreNet Global.

Prior to joining The Royal Bank of Scotland in October 2002, Barry was Director of Global Strategic Planning and Innovation within Johnson Controls Integrated Facility Management. This global role involved the assessment of medium to long term industry trends and possible futures, and their impact on and translation into business strategy. 

His career has resulted in many years’ experience in building economics, corporate real estate and facilities management.
