i-FM's news is updated every working day

i-FM.net was launched in July 1999 as the first source of daily facilities management news and information on the world wide web.

Since then it has evolved continuously to meet the needs of a rapidly maturing and expanding market. At the end of October 2001, i-FM moved to a market intelligence model with full access restricted to licensed users and offering complementary features such as the recruitment pages, industry supported discussion platform and the most comprehensive suppliers database available to the FM community at large.

i-FM is organised into a series of key areas - news, features, comment, research and much more, all easily accessible from the front-page navigation system.

i-FM - The Site

News is updated every working day and includes extensive cross-referencing and links to external sites and documents. The news database search engine allows for very precise retrieval of stories by date, headline, synopsis or full text.

Users can opt for e-mail news alerts customised by news topic (choosing from more than 30) and frequency -- daily, weekly or every two weeks.

Our Facilities Services section provides a searchable directory of facilities service providers. For more detailed information on the major FM providers, the i-FM Top 50 is a continuously updated database that allows users to compare turnover, profit, staffing, services and clients.

The Surveys section includes a number of initiatives to evaluate and benchmark information in FM. A major element here is the i-FM Trends & Opportunities Report, one of the most authoritative market research studies available – complemented periodically with our landmark Audit of the UK FM Sector.  Together, these two reports provide the definitive analysis of the UK FM industry and the companies operating in it. They cover market size and market structure, company performance and activity, recent major contracts plus views and experiences of FMs operating on the frontline.

We also research and report on other topical issues from time to time, including salaries in FM and business confidence levels.

In addition, we commission, research and publish a wide range of feature articles, including interviews, case studies, management reviews and event reports, and opinion pieces. As well as those authored and commissioned by us, i-FM carries syndicated articles from our content partners, the leading journals and magazines in the UK and overseas – making i-FM a unique resource for data, ideas, innovations and market intelligence.

Our Tenders & Contracts service lists major public sector tenders for facilities management and related services. Tenders are listed on i-FM as they are published in the EU Official Journal. Users can also search our database of FM contracts, each with links to news stories.

We also offer two resources for finding FM and related organisations – one for commercial companies (the Companies section, which can additionally be accessed at www.FMpages.net) and one for not for profit organisations (the FM Links section) - making i-FM the most comprehensive FM portal.

Finally, our Training section provides details of education and training opportunities in the UK as well as numerous events. The i-FM Bookshop provides easy access to books, directories, journals and reports on a wide range of topics, including FM theory and practice, the workplace, technology, real estate, construction, architecture & design, human resources, environment and the law.

i-FM is here to support all facilities managers who appreciate that FM is evolving. With increasing professionalism, the information, training and development resources available to FMs can transform their roles and positions within their companies.

Salary expectations and career progression outlook are changing radically for those FMs who embrace the challenges and opportunities available in facilities management. i-FM plays a key role in helping professionals to stay up-to-date and to move ahead.
